Eye Behaviour Patterns
When using NLP, looking at different eye movements allows you to detect which representation system a person was using at any time, therefore allowing you to elicit the use of a particular rep system by having the person look in the direction aligned with that representational system.
What's a Represenational System?
VAK. Visual Auditory and Kinesthetic. A visual person is likely to prefer to learn or choose things which are in picture form, An auditory person will prefer to hear about the information and a primarily kinesthetic person will prefer things which they get a good feeling about.
Why is this useful information? As you become adept at looking at peoples eye patterns, you can learn how to appeal to them more successfully. Can you imagine asking for a raise, knowing exactly what words to use or selling to people, knowing exactly what they want to see, feel and hear?
In Kinesiology, they use cross-lateral eye movement to help balance and integrate left and right hemisphere processes: While holding your head still, follow the movement of your finger tip with your eyes. First, move the finger up to the left and down to the right 8 times, then up to the right and down to the left 8 times; making an X movement.
Advanced NLP uses the EMI process which is the X movement with a box around it; made by moving the eyes from left to right at visual level, then up right to down right, down right to down left, and finally down left to up left. This process activates and exercises the whole brain and all the rep systems.
The reason it is called a system is that no one person uses just one of them to make a decision, they will use all or mlost of them..... just one will be stronger or more prevalent than the others.
